Western New England University routs UNE in CCC tournament in Beverly, Mass.
Leah Torre pitched four shutout innings and also hit a three-run homer during a five-run third inning to lead second-seeded Western New England (25-17) to a 9-1, six-inning win over fourth-ranked University of New England (22-17-1) in an elimination game of the Commonwealth Coast Conference tournament Thursday in Beverly, Mass.

ASIAN TOUR: While 12-year-old Ye Wocheng was making history at the China Open in Tianjin, Robert-Jan Derksen was making birdies.
Ye became the youngest player to compete on the European Tour, shooting a 7-over 79 in the first round with a 40-yard chip-in for bogey on his 15th hole. Derksen, of the Netherlands, shot a 66 to take a two-stroke lead.
TENNIS
BMW OPEN: Top-seeded Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia defeated Grega Zemlja of Slovenia 6-4, 6-2 to reach the quarterfinals in Munich. He will face Daniel Brands of Germany, who beat Gael Monfils of France 6-3, 3-6, 6-0.
PORTUGAL OPEN: Second-seeded Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland rallied past Albert Ramos of Spain 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 to move into the quarterfinals in Oeiras.
Eighth-seeded Tommy Robredo also advanced on the Spaniard’s 31st birthday, defeating Robin Haase 6-4, 6-4.
On the women’s side, fourth-seeded Carla Suarez Navarro of Spain is into the semifinals with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Monica Puig of Puerto Rico.
Romina Oprandi also advanced with a 6-2, 6-2 win against Svetlana Kuznetsova.

EUROPA LEAGUE: Chelsea advanced to the final, beating Basel 3-1 Thursday for a 5-2 aggregate win.
Chelsea will play Benfica at Amsterdam on May 15 in the final of Europe’s second-tier club tournament, Benfica won 3-1 at home against Turkey’s Fenerbahce to advance on 3-2 aggregate.
BOXING
PORTLAND BOXING CLUB: Lightweight Lindsay Kyajohnian won a unanimous decision over Kimberly Wabik of Somerville, Mass., and lightweight Chi Wong won a split decision over Henry Ung of Cambridge at the FI Boston Event Center at Braintree, Mass. Kyajohnian was also named the Outstanding Boxer of the Evening.
