WATERVILLE (AP) — Waterville police are cracking down on loud vehicle exhausts.

Chief Joseph Massey says officers on Thursday started stopping motorcycles, cars and trucks whose exhaust systems are too loud and issued warnings. He tells the Morning Sentinel the warnings will be handed out for about two weeks to raise awareness, but after that police will start handing out tickets that run to almost $200.
