Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority has closed the sale of two properties that were under contract with developer Thomas B. Wright.
Wright’s plans include Seeds of Independence, a school for troubled youth, in what was known as Building 24. Built in 1982, the 10,000- square-foot building was previously used as a U.S. Navy personnel support center.
The sale of Building 592 also has been finalized, MRRA officials said Thursday. The sale of the two buildings will bring in $510,000 to MRRA.
Seeds of Independence is described a “mentor and volunteer based nonprofit organization committed to helping at-risk youth in Maine reach their full potential as independent, productive members of society.”

We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
