GORHAM – Gorham police are investigating a three-vehicle crash at 4:40 p.m. on April 28 at the intersection of Main Street and Libby Avenue that sent two people to the hospital.

A preliminary police report by Sgt. Michael Nault said a 2004 Dodge Durango driven by Ronnie Willey, 42, of Gorham failed to yield crossing Main Street from Libby Avenue in a southerly direction.

Willey was broadsided and pushed through the intersection by a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Garrett Beesley, 20, of Gorham, who was eastbound on Main Street.

As Willey’s vehicle rolled over, it struck and landed on the hood of a 2007 Nissan Sentra driven by Nikki Sproul, 31, of South Portland, who was stopped at the stop sign on Libby Avenue on the south side of the intersection.

Gorham rescue personnel evaluated five patients at the scene and two sustaining non-life threatening injuries were transported to a hospital.

“Seat belts and properly installed child safety seats played a vital role in the reduction of injuries in this crash,” Nault said.
