PORTLAND — The MEMIC Group recently announced the promotions of Troy McLain to manager of Maine Advocate Operations and Jared Payton to national director of Ancillary Services.
McLain began at MEMIC in 1997, serving as a hearing representative. He was later promoted to employer advocate, litigating hundreds of workers’ compensation claims on behalf of employers throughout Maine and went on to lead MEMIC’s Advocate Department.
In his new role, McLain will be responsible for day-to-day operations of MEMIC’s staff of insurance defense attorneys, as well as maintaining his own caseload of litigation files.
Payton joined MEMIC in 1996 and has served in roles with increasing responsibility within the company’s Claims Department. Most recently, he served as the director of Claim Operations, overseeing MEMIC’s Maine claim operation. In his new role, Payton will oversee the activities and development of employer advocates and special investigators across all jurisdictions in which MEMIC operates.
Payton is a Bowdoin College graduate.

We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
