LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles has the worst traffic in the nation, according to a new report.

The traffic information firm INRIX says LA beat Honolulu for jam leader in its national scorecard.

Thanks to congestion, the average LA driver spent an extra 59 hours in traffic in 2012.

That’s nine hours more than drivers in Honolulu.

INRIX says congestion got even worse in the first few months of this year because LA added about 90,000 jobs, which means more people driving. The worst traffic times are Tuesday morning and Friday afternoon.

San Francisco was in third place for congestion, followed by Austin; New York and Bridgeport, Conn. San Jose was in seventh place, followed by Seattle, Washington D.C. and Boston.
