WINSLOW — Lydia Lea Wade, 63, of Winslow, passed away after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer on March 28, 2013, at MGMC with her family at her side.

Born on January 16, 1950 in Brunswick, Maine, to Margaret “Jane” Bourassa and Alfred “Diddy” Racine, both deceased, she was the youngest of three — older sister Eva Beckett, 66, of Calais and Alfred Racine Jr., 64, of Brunswick, Maine. She graduated from Brunswick High School in 1968.

On August 1st 1970, she married Samuel T. Wade, 65, and eventually settled in Winslow with their children William, of Lewiston, and James, of Portland — both 40, and Susan, of Augusta, 36. She was graced with 2 wonderful women who became a part of her family — Erica Morrell Wade, 36, wife of William and Katrina Baum, 24, girlfriend of James. She also leaves behind three grandchildren by William and Erica — Maggie 7, Alex 6, and Jeffrey 1, all of whom were her greatest joy.

She was blessed with a great sense of humor, an ability to find the positive in all situations and the tenacity to fight most any battle. She loved nothing more than to be at the family camp surrounded by her loved ones. A truly wonderful woman, she made friends wherever she would go with her ribald sense of humor, quick wit and warm heart. She leaves behind not only a loving family and extended family, but also many friends who will feel her loss as deeply as her family will.

It was her final wish to be cremated and that no funeral be held, but a remembrance service will take place Monday, April 15, at the Winslow VFW from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please make donations in her name to the Alfond Cancer Center or the Oncology wing at Maine General Medical Center as a way of thanks to them for their service and care during her illness.
