Edgar Duran’s two-run homer capped a three-run ninth inning as the Reading Fightin’ Phils beat the Portland Sea Dogs 7-4 Monday night at Hadlock Field.

The score had been tied at 4 since the seventh, when Xander Bogaerts bounced a two-out RBI single up the middle. The Sea Dogs (1-3) had trailed 4-1 in the sixth before Stephen Drew homered and Travis Shaw and Michael Almanzar followed with back-to-back doubles to make it 4-3.

Sea Dogs righthander Matt Barnes, the top-rated pitching prospect in the Red Sox system, made his Double-A debut a short one. He struck out the side in the first inning, but also allowed a walk, a single and a triple as Reading (3-2) jumped to a 2-0 lead.

Manager Kevin Boles decided that 33 pitches was enough for Barnes, who was pulled in favor of reliever Keith Couch.

Almanzar, who homered twice on Sunday, doubled twice Monday night and scored Portland’s first run after a single by Peter Hissey.
