Velma M. Laughton, 84, died peacefully with family by her side on March 23, 2013, in West Paris, where she and Richard Fleming have been happily residing together for the last 23 1/2 years.
Velma was born in Freeport to Harry and Juanita MacAllister. She grew up in Freeport and in Portland.
For 35 years she was married to Kenneth Laughton. They raised six children in Freeport then moving to the Western Maine area. Kenneth passed away in 2007.
She is survived by one sister, Winona Day, 95 years old of Portland. She is survived by all her children as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She loved the outdoors, knitting, crocheting, sewing and cooking. She is best remembered for her passion of flowers and gardens.
