PHIPPSBURG — Julie A. (Sprague) Freeman, 52, of Phippsburg, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at her home on April 2, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born November 17, 1960 in Portland, the daughter of William and Julia (Gove) Sprague. She moved to Machias with her family in 1977, graduating from MMHS in 1979. Julie loved the ocean, gardening, baking, and was always there to lend a helping hand to others. She had a great love for the Boston Red Sox and was even able to attend a game in July with her son.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Stephen Freeman of Phippsburg; daughters, Dawn and Jennifer of Machias; son, Courtney (Corky) of Dresden; step-children, Derek and wife Natasha of Phippsburg, Stephanie of Topsham; brothers, Buddy of Monmouth, Tim of Topsham, David of Machiasport, Andy and wife Kristen of Millbury, MA; sister, Beth and husband Harold of Bowdoin; mother and father-in-law Madelyn and Donald Freeman of Phippsburg; brothers in law, Ernie and wife Margaret of Phippsburg and Herb of Bath; grandchildren, Hannah, Alyssa, Richard, Skyler and Curtis; several nieces, nephews, extended family and special friends.

She enjoyed working many years at Bisson’s Center Store in Phippsburg, where she considered her co-workers her family. A heartfelt Thank You to Roland and Dianne Bisson for all they have done. Also to Dr. Tashima and his staff for the excellent care she received.

A graveside service will be held at a later date this Spring.
