WESTBROOK – A man is facing several charges relating to a sexual assault reported in Westbrook earlier this year.
On Thursday, the U.S. Marshal’s Violent Offender Task Force and Lewiston police arrested 32-year-old Alvin Lee Weisberg on warrants charging class A gross sexual assault, class B unlawful sexual contact, class B aggravated assault, class D criminal threatening, and class E violation of conditions of release as he attempted to flee the state, according to a release from Westbrook police.
The charges, police said, stem from an incident reported to Westbrook police in February of this year. Weisberg, a Portland resident, was also arrested on a warrant charging failure to appear for a jury trial in a separate matter.
Westbrook and Portland police detectives are continuing to investigate additional sexual assault allegations from other potential victims alleging sexual assaults by Weisberg. Any person with information concerning Weisberg is encouraged to contact Detective Sgt. Patrick Lally of Westbrook police at 854-2531, ext. 414, or Detective Mary Ann Bailey of Portland police at 874-8533.
