FREEPORT — Attorney and state employee Sarah Tracy has been elected as Freeport’s newest town councilor, after a Wednesday special election, according to the Freeport Town Clerk.

With 304 votes, Tracy will replace District 2 Councilor Kate Arno, who resigned her post to take a job in Washington, D.C.

Her opponent, Joyce Clarkson-Veilleux, received 133 votes.

Tracy is set to be sworn in next Tuesday at the city council meeting, and will serve until Arno’s term expires in November 2014.
