BIDDEFORD — Noah Austin scored the game-winning goal with seven minutes left in regulation to lift the Mt. Ararat Middle School boys ice hockey team to a 4-3 quarterfinal win over Gorham on Monday in Southern Maine Middle School Hockey League Hawkins Division play.

The Eagles jumped on top 1- 0 on an unassisted goal by Tyler Halls.

But, fifth-seeded Gorham answered with three goals over a three-minute stretch of the second period to take a 3-1 lead.

Mt. Ararat responded with a goal each by Jason Magno (assisted by Orion Sargent) and Halls (Cam Grant) to tie the game after two frames.

Kyle Welsh manned the net for No. 4 Mt. Ararat, which faces top-seeded Cape Elizabeth on Thursday at the University of New England.
