
FREEPORT — The legendary Lefty Kreh and trophy trout expert Kelly Galloup will highlight L.L. Bean’s 23rd annual Spring Fishing Weekend slated for March 15-17.
Both will be available at the Freeport store on Saturday and Sunday to visit with customers, share stories, sign autographs, books and more. In addition, Kreh and Galloup will be doing seminars on a variety of topics.
Steve Rajeff, a world champion fly caster, will also be conducting a variety of fly casting demonstrations.
Celebrity fly tiers for Saturday and Sunday include David Klausmeyer, Edward “Muzzy” Muzeroll, Don Bastian and Sam Kenney, who at only 14 years old has already placed second in the Pennsylvania State Fly Tying Championship, open division.
Other weekend highlights include free fly casting lessons, rod testing, and family and kids’ activities. There will be a full roster of demonstrations, clinics and seminars, including presentations by Maine’s Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, the Maine Professional Guides Association and L.L. Bean experts on topics ranging from surf casting for striped bass and bluefish to spring trolling techniques and more.
Special promotions begin on Friday and extend through the weekend. The famous Bootmobile, a larger than life, road-ready replica of the iconic Bean Boot, will be at the store from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
