Fire destroyed the apartments upstairs from Colucci’s Hilltop Superette, including the apartment of co-owner Dickie Colucci, early Saturday. Colucci’s is a neighborhood corner store on Munjoy Hill.

No one was hurt, but nine people were displaced by the fire at 135 Congress St.

The fire broke out about 3:50 a.m. on the second floor of the three-story building. Portland firefighters extinguished the fire, which also damaged the third floor.

Colucci’s is housed on the first floor and sustained some damage but will probably be able to open within a few days, said Nicole Clegg, city spokeswoman. Three apartments were in the top two floors.

The American Red Cross is working with the families to find them places to stay.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
