TOPSHAM
A single-family home subdivision on Mallett Drive and a retail building planned for construction in the Topsham Fair Mall, were moved along by the Planning Board Tuesday.
The 47-unit single-family unit subdivision is proposed by developer Dan Catlin of Mallet Woods, LLC, and would be located on a narrow parcel of wooded land between Park and Mallett drives. The project was up for public hearing and preliminary subdivision review Tuesday.
According to Town Planner Rich Roedner, the board granted preliminary subdivision approval. Catlin hopes to go before the board again in early April to get final approval on the first of the four-phase project, which involves construction of 11 lots.
After a public hearing, the board also approved the site plan amendment proposed by Catlin, of SN, LLC of Portland, for a retail building at 65 Topsham Fair Mall Road.
The amendment increased the building footprint of a second retail building approved in 2010 to be located next to Town Fair Tire in the Topsham Fair Mall. The plan now calls for a 4,000-square-foot space and two, 2,000-square-foot spaces.
Catlin said he is near finalizing deals with tenants for two of the spaces, and one of the 2,000-square-foot spaces remains available. He hopes building construction will start April 5.
