NEW YORK — Sophomore Jamie Ruginskiandthe4x400-meterrelay team set school records Saturday to help the University of Southern Maine men’s indoor track and field team finish sixth among the 51 teams that scored at ECAC (Eastern College Athletic Conference) Division III Championships.
The two-day event was held at the New Balance Track and Field Center at The Armory in New York City.
The4x400relayfoursomeof Jeremy Collins, Kevin Desmond, Daniel Webb and senior Parker Chipman of Pownal posted a time of 3:18.76 to shave 0.04 seconds off the previous record set three years ago. They finished second to Cortland State.
Ruginski eclipsed his own long jump record with a leap of 23-01.25 to place second in the event.
Chipman also scored in the 800- meter run, finishing sixth in 1:54.03.
