WEST BATH — Dzogchen Meditation Center is sponsoring a weekend retreat with Chris Pleim, “The Four Foundations of Mindfulness,” March 8 to 10.

The Four Foundations of Mindfulness were originally taught by the Buddha and recorded in the Satipatthana Sutta, according to a news release. “In his incomparable brilliance, Trungpa Rinpoche brought these aspects of meditation to a modern Western audience in a way that is understandable to the beginning student, but whose principles extend throughout the whole path ‘from the level of basic mindfulness to the highest levels of tantra.’”

The weekend will begin with an open house and public talk on Friday, March 8, at 7 p.m. The Friday night talk is free, and open to all.

The cost for the rest of the weekend is $165, which includes room and board, or $100 for commuters. Scholarships and work/study arrangements are available.

Chris Pleim has been a student of Chogyam Trungpa since 1972 and attended these teachings with him in 1974. He is a founding member of Trungpa Rinpoche’s center in Boston and has served as a senior teacher within Trungpa Rinpoche’s community for more than 30 years.

Dzogchen Meditation Center is located at 4 Armstrong Way, West Bath. For information, call 607-3392 or visit www.dzogchenmeditation.com.
