LITCHFIELD — Charles Hanson Sr., 88, of Richmond died on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013.

He was born on April 23, 1924, the son of Archie and Marion Hanson.

Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1943 to 1946 during World War II. He was also a member of the American Legion and the Senior Citizens Bowling League.

He enjoyed playing banjo, harmonica, bowling, fishing, gardening, carpentry and recently spending time at Sky Hy adult daycare.

Charles worked at United Shoe Machinery and retired from Etonic Shoe as a machinist in 1986.

He was predeceased by a brother, Melville. Charles is survived by his wife, Katherine; daughters, Linda and Alan Russo from Whitefield, Joyce and Robert Defisher of Henrietta, N.Y., and Charlene and Keith Hall of Richmond; sons, Don and Nancy Hanson of Richmond, Charles Hanson Jr. and Debra of Richmond, Bruce and Mary Hanson of Monmouth, Keith and Lorie Hanson of Sabattus, Darryl Hanson of Boothbay Harbor and Darrin Hanson of Randolph; 22 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two great-greatgrandchildren. Also, a special thanks to Merry Milne who recently cared for him in her home.

A memorial gathering will take place on Saturday, Feb. 23, at 10 a.m. Funeral services commence at 11 a.m., both at the funeral home. A gathering of family and friends will take place after the funeral, with location TBA.

Burial will take place in the spring.

Arrangements are under the care of Kincer Funeral Home, 130 Pleasant St., Richmond.
