BRUNSWICK — The Brunswick’s and Recreation Department Mid- Winter Basketball Classic wrapped up its second day on Tuesday.

In boys action the semifinals for today at set for today with Falmouth/ Southern Maine Catholic at 4:15 p.m., followed by Mt. Blue/Medomak Valley 8th at 5:30 p.m., Winslow/Auburn at 6:45 p.m. and Brunswick 8th/Greely at 8 p.m.

Brunswick 8th 46-31

The Brunswick Junior High eighth-graders opened with a 46-31 win over Lyman Moore.

Caleb Cost poured in 22 points, while Corbin Teel added 13 and Jazwel Burns six. The Huskies, who shot seven of 15 from the line, led 7- 5, 20-12 and 30-19 at the breaks.

In the Lyman Moore effort, Connor Buckley and Teron Moss each had eight points and Griffin Foley seven.

Medomak 8th, 40-29

The Medomak Valley eighthgraders dispatched Windham with period leads of 13-5, 23-14 and 32-20.

Ten players scored, led by Taylor McLain (8), Matty Moore (7) and Cameron Martin (6)). MV was five of 15 at the line.

Michael Gilman scored 12 for Windham, which was one of 10 at the line.

Falmouth 47-28

Isaak Friou scored 12 points, Jacob Preston added nine and Colin Coyne seven to lead Falmouth past Mt. Ararat.

Falmouth posted leads of 12-7, 24- 15 and 31-23 and hit on 18 of 33 free throws.

Cameron Cox paced Mt. Ararat with nine points, while Cole Guerin had six and Kyle Brown and Jacob Steinman four each. Mt. Ararat was five of 15 at the charity stripe.

Woolwich 42-29

In a consolation game, Woolwich Central got past the Brunswick JH seventh-graders.

Dakota Freeman poured in 32 points and Jeremy Thiboutot and Sullivan Boyd added four each.

Woolwich led 10-8 after one, 27-19 at the half, and 37-29 after three before the Huskies made a comeback. Woolwich was seven of 14 at the line.

In the Brunswick effort, Colby Bucknam led with 15 points, while Alex Demars had 10 and Alex Small nine. The Huskies were eight of 10 at the line.

Boothbay 8th 47-22

In another consolation game, Boothbay 8th led the Medomak Valley seventh graders 22-11, 29-16 and 43-19 at the breaks as Jacob Leonard scored 18 points, Jeremy Holbrook nine and Alex Smith six. Boothbay attempted 15 free throws and made five.

In the MV effort, Isaac Eusler had nine points and Colin Fournier eight. MV was 10 of 17 at the line.

Yarmouth 42-39

In consolation action, Yarmouth defeated Freeport as Hayden Dieterle scored 17 points and John Thoma and Nolan Hagerty 10 each. Yarmouth led 13-5, 28-20 and 33-31 at the breaks and shot 16 of 31 with Dieterle going 10-for-10.

For Freeport, Ethan Sclar had 12 points, Ryan Benedict eight, Josh Spaulding seven, Dom Casale five and Max Coffin four. Freeport was three of 12 at the line.

Lewiston 42-29

In the day’s final consolation game, Lewiston beat Bath with leads of 12-2, 25-13 and 36-17.

Hussein Adan scored nine points and James Whitmore and Mohamed Mohamed scored seven each as Lewiston hit on two of six free throws.

In the Bath offense, Tyreik Foster had seven points and Dillon Havener six. Bath was zero for three at the line.

Tuesday girls

The girls tourney is shaping up with Gorham and Yarmouth filling in one semifinal bracket. In today’s quarterfinal play, Wells 7th and Mt. Ararat meet at 1:45 p.m., followed by Wells 8th and Woolwich at 3 p.m.

Wells 7th 38-34

In first-round action, the Wells seventh-graders got past St. John’s of Brunswick. St. John’s led 11-4 after one, but fell behind 17-14 at the half and led 24-23 after three.

In the St. John’s effort, Catherine Reid had 11 points, Claire Reid eight, Nicole Pelletier six and Anne McManus five. St. John’s was two of six at the line.

For Wells, Hope Wolterbeck had 10 points and Anya Chase and Megan Schneider eight each. Wells was three of nine at the charity stripe.

Gorham 39-22

In quarterfinal play, Gorham defeated the Bath Middle School with leads of 14-2, 21-6 and 30-12.

Emily Esposito led with 10 points, while Kristen Curley had eight and Heather Woodbury six. Gorham was one of eight at the line.

In the Bath offense, Nora Sreden popped in 10 points and Amanda Gagne and Sierra Wallace split 10 down the middle. Bath was 11 of 18 at the line.

Yarmouth 51-25

In the day’s other quarterfinal game, Yarmouth beat Lewiston as Corey Langenbach popped in 16 points (eight in a pivotal third period), while Sara D’Appolonia and Ally Tillotson has 10 each and Isabelle Christie nine.

Yarmouth led 10-9 after one, trailed 21-19 at the half, and went up 37-21 after three. Yarmouth was two of four at the line.

In the Lewiston cause, Skylar Gaudette had 11 points, Kasey Talarico seven and Morgan Eliasen five. Lewiston attempted 19 free throws and made nine.

The 19-team boys event and 11- team girls tournament opened up on Monday.

Girls
Bath 45, Durham 10

The Bath Middle School posted quarterly leads of 10-6, 22-6 and 37-7.

Kelsea Albertson led the way with nine points, while Sreden, Hope Faulkingham and Emma Goud added six each. Bath was zero of three at the line and Durham two of six.

Tatum Erlanson, Johana Bogue Marlow, Megan Cormier, Taylor Dostie and Abby Koehig were offensive contributors in the loss.

Woolwich 36, Brunswick 27

Madeline Suhr paced a balanced offense with 14 points and Woolwich held leads of 4-3, 16-7 and 29-16.

Brooke McElman chipped in with eight points and Lilah Pashley and Korallei Fifield added seven each. Woolwich was 10 of 18 at the charity stripe.

Maddie Brescia led Brunswick with 10 points and Aidan Sachs and Margaret Dickinson had four each. Brunswick was five of 12 at the line.

Eight games were played on Monday with Lyman Moore, Windham, Mt. Ararat, Greely, Winslow, Auburn, Mt. Blue and Southern Maine Catholic emerging victorious.

Lyman Moore 63, Woolwich 34

Buckley tossed in 16 points and Griffin Foley added 14 for Lyman Moore, which led 20-12, 26-19 and 47- 30 at the quarter breaks.

In the Woolwich effort, Freeman poured in a game-high 26 points and Evan Parsons added eight.

Woolwich was six of 14 at the line and Lyman Moore three of four.

Windham 49, Brun. 7th 44

The Brunswick Junior High seventh graders fell as a balanced Windham effort was too much.

Hunter Coffin paced the winning attack with 15 points, while Nick Curtis added 14 and Michael Gilman 13.

Brunswick led 12-9 after one, 20-18 at the half and 30-27 after three. Alex Small led the way with 20 points, while Demars had 12 and Sam Dorval five.

At the line, the Huskies were 15 of 28 and Windham 10 of 18.

Mt. Ararat 37, MV 18

The Eagles opened with a big win over Medomak Valley 7th as Guerin tossed in eight points, Cox seven and Gage Palmer and Steinman six each.

The Eagles sported leads of 13-0, 23-4 and 27-7.

Jensen Willis and Eusler split 10 points evenly in the loss.

Medomak was three of eight at the line and Mt. Ararat one of four.

Greely 64, Boothbay 37

Jordan Bagshaw poured in 23 points, Matt McDevitt had 15, Evan Wood eight and Joe Piwowarski and Logan Bagshaw six each to pace Greely, which led 15-14, 31-29 and 48- 40 at the breaks.

Greely attempted eight free throws and made five, while Boothbay was four of 13.

Jacob Leonard tossed in 23 points in the loss, while Dima Gosselin had 11 and Jeremy Holbrook seven.

Winslow 57, Yarmouth 46

In the Winslow effort, Hunter Campbell had 10 points, Jake LaFlamme nine, Jacob Dacus and Levie Magee eight each, Evan Dart seven and Jack Morneault six.

Winslow, which was five of 17 at the line, led 16-4, 25-21 and 39-31 at the breaks.

For Yarmouth, Dieterle had 15 points, Thoma 10, Gibson Hamett seven and Nolan Hagerty six. Yarmouth was seven of eight at the line.

Auburn 58, Freeport 34

Eleven players scored for Auburn, led by Jarod Plourde with nine, Sulaban Ennaw and Noah Moreshead with eight each and Ben Harris and Jacob Kyjohnian with six each.

Auburn, which was four of 15 at the line, led 17-11, 34-17 and 44-26 at the breaks.

Josh Spaulding paced Freeport with 13 points, while Sclar had 11 and Coffin eight. Freeport attempted seven free throws and made two.

Mt. Blue 62, Bath 21

Cooper Hollingsworth and Zach Mittelstadt each scored 12 points to lead Mt. Blue. Marshall Doyon chipped in with nine and Tyler Poisson and Cole Dorham eight each as Mt. Blue led 18-4, 31-11 and 36-15 at the breaks.

Mt. Blue was five of 17 at the line and Bath four of 17.

Tom Warren led Bath with five points and Ali Alfasalwi and Alex Fernald added four each.

SMC 31, Lewiston 26

Raffaela Salamone led Southern Maine Catholic with 22 points and Anthony Pirone added five.

After a 9-9 first-quarter stalemate, SMC led 21-12 at the half and 23-18 after three.

At the foul line, SMC was 10 of 18, while Lewiston was two of 12.

Mohamed led Lewiston with 11 points and Adan added six.
