Azure Cafe? ?retains title
The sixth annual Flavors of Freeport, sponsored by FreeportUSA, kicked off Feb. 15 with the Chefs Signature Series at the Hilton Garden Inn on Park Street. The sold-out event featured food from Freeport restaurants, a martini “ice luge,” live music and an ice throne.
Ticket holders voted on their favorite culinary creations, with best in show going to three-time defending champion Chris Bassett of Azure Cafe?. Bassett wowed the crowd with his garlic crostinis topped with thinly sliced mozzarella, seasoned filet mignon, and slow-roasted local tomatoes.
“It’s a really great time,” said attendee Brianna Muhler, who made the short trip from Portland. “I came last year and didn’t want to miss it.”
