Wine and Cheese Fundraiser

Come to a Wine and Cheese Fundraiser to benefit the New Gloucester Veterans Monument from 4-7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 8. The fundraiser takes place at Connemara Farm, 37 Peacock Hill Road, New Gloucester. Gymnastics and Cheer Tumbling

The New Gloucester Parks and Recreation Department will be holding gymnastics and cheer tumbling lessons at the Memorial School gymnasium, 86 Intervale Road. Programs run for six consecutive Thursdays, beginning Thursday, March 21. If needed, the snow day will be Thursday, May 9.

Gymnastics will be offered for boys and girls, ages 4 and up. This program will include proper stretching, strength building, tumbling, beam and vault. Cheer tumbling includes stretching, strength, jump and tumbling technique. Students should be able to do a forward roll to participate. Indoor sneakers are needed.

The cost is $30, for either class. Additional children in a family receive a $5 discount. Registrations should be returned to Harvey Price Jr., 385 Intervale Road, New Gloucester, ME 04260, by Thursday, March 14. Lego Donations Needed

The New Gloucester Public Library is currently planning its annual March SleepOver, and an evening of Legos is planned. Arlington National Cemetery Talk

Alan Gregory, U.S. Navy and U.S. Army (retired), will speak about Arlington National Cemetery at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21, at the New Gloucester Meetinghouse, next to Town Hall on Route 231. Gregory, a former member of the American Battle Monuments Commission, will talk about Arlington as a National Shrine, connections to Maine, and his personal assignments there. The presentation will be open to the public and free of charge. Refreshments will be served.
