POLAND — Nina Davenport scored 16 points as the Freeport High School girls basketball team rallied for a 41-29 Western Maine Conference win over Poland on Tuesday.

The Falcons, 11-6 and winners of five straight, trailed 6- 5 and 18-17 at the first two quarter breaks, but outscored the Knights (6-11) 10-2 in the third quarter for a 27-19 lead.

Jocelyn Davee chipped in nine points, while Leigh Wyman and Aubrey Pennell had six each for Freeport, which is slated to visit Old Orchard Beach on Friday.

Kayla Yirrell had a teamhigh 11 points for Poland, with Emily Bolduc and Michaella Arsenault adding six each.

LINCOLN 45

Jen Genthner scored nine points as the host Eagles held on for a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B win at Newcastle.

Sadie Crosby paced Morse (4-13) with 12 points and eight rebounds, while Emma Harrington chipped in nine points and 11 caroms.

The Shipbuilders conclude their season on Thursday at Leavitt.

MONMOUTH 51

The visiting Greyhounds jumped out to a 14-6 firstquarter lead, but the Mustangs rallied for a Mountain Valley Conference victory.

Monmouth (13-4) trailed 20- 17 at the half, but grabbed a 32-29 lead after three quarters and pulled away in the fourth, shooting seven of eight from the foul line.

Kylie Kemp and Sierra Spencer had 16 and 15 points, respectively for the hosts. Kemp also had nine rebounds, and Daisi Poole and Melissa Brassard added seven rebounds each.

Denise Thomas paced 5-12 Lisbon with 11 points, with Mia Durgin adding nine, Bree Sautter seven and Adrianna White six.

The Greyhounds, one spot out of a Western Maine Class C playoff spot, are scheduled to host St. Dom’s on Friday at 7 p.m. in their season finale.

LEWISTON 46

The visiting Eagles improved to 14-3 in the KVAC with quarterly leads of 16-9, 27-17 and 42-31.

Caitlin LaFountain poured in 22 points and chipped in with six rebounds, three steals and three blocked shots.

Mallory Nelson had 15 points, six rebounds, six assists and four steals, Kristi Willey nine points and Chelsea Crawford six points and three steals.

Mt. Ararat shot 18 for 44 from the floor and 16 of 28 from the line, while 4-13 Lewiston was 18 for 51 from the floor and three of five from the charity stripe. Brie Wilson led the Blue Devils with 15 points.

Mt. Ararat is scheduled to host Brunswick on Thursday.

In MVC action on Tuesday, Oak Hill improved to 9-8, while the Wolverines dipped to 4-13 and are scheduled to close out the regular season Friday at Boothbay.

Grace Sabine led Oak Hill with nine points, while Hayley Marshall had eight, Meagan Crosby seven, and Julie Morneault and Kelsy Collins six each.

Alecia Faulingham had 13 points for Wiscasset, which trailed 12-6, 27-19 and 37-25 at the breaks. Kayla Gordon had six, and Kasey Cromwell and Heidi Pinkham four each.

RICHMOND 46

The visiting Seagulls nailed back-to-back 3-pointers early in the fourth quarter to claim a 12-point lead and held off the Bobcats (13-3) at Richmond.

“The game went back and forth, but those two shots in the fourth, after a few missed free throws, put us behind too much,” said Richmond coach Molly Bishop, whose charges conclude the regular season on Thursday at home against Kents Hill.

Old Orchard Beach (13-4), which defeated the Bobcats 55-48 Jan. 2, received 18 points from Abby DeBlois and 11 from Christina Colman. The Seagulls went to the foul line 41 times, making 22, while Richmond stuggled to a ninefor 21 performance.

Jamie Plummer paced Richmond with 18 points and 16 rebounds. Ciarra Lancaster added 10 points, and Haley Murphy came off the bench to add six points and two steals.

“Haley Murphy caused a lot of turnovers and gave us a spark off the bench,” said Plummer.

Host Erskine Academy picked up its first win in KVAC action at South China.

Bridget Humphrey scored 11 of her game-high 29 points in the fourth quarter as the Eagles improved to 1-16. Humphrey added 14 rebounds, four assists and three steals, while Hannah Bridges chipped in 18 points and Taylor Boucher 11 rebounds.

Julian Champagne led Brunswick (2-15 and slated to visit Mt. Ararat on Thursday) with 15 points, with Lyse Henshaw adding 12 and Lauren Carlton 11.
