AUGUSTA (AP) — Gov. Paul LePage has declared a limited emergency to allow heating oil truck drivers to work extra hours to ensure timely deliveries during a period of extreme cold.

The governor issued the declaration Thursday after receiving reports from oil companies that they were falling behind in meeting the many requests for fuel deliveries.

He said keeping homes warm is critical to “protect the public health and safety of Mainers.”
