SOMERVILLE (AP) — Officials have recovered a body from the rubble of a burned out house in Somerville.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office says the body is believed to be that of the homeowner, 92-year-old Cecil Brann.
Authorities say a neighbor saw smoke and reported the blaze at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday. Brann’s body was found in the kitchen of the house at about 9 p.m.
The fire destroyed the house and a barn.
Officials say the freezing temperatures made it difficult to fight the fire. Several of the responding fire trucks had frozen water and hoses.
Authorities say this is the state’s first fire death of the year.
