Get ready gardeners

The Windham Community Garden hopes you are staying safe and healthy over the winter months. We are presently making plans for the garden for this coming season and happily welcome back our previous gardeners.

We have had a terrific response from residents with requests for beds, leaving only a couple not spoken for. Thank you all for your continued support in our effort to “grow local-eat well.” We will continue to keep all abreast of the happenings at the garden and even though it is only January, get those seed orders in.

See you in the spring and please visit our website, www.windhamcommunitygarden.org.

Thank you

Thank you to all who made our holiday programs a success this year at the Windham Food Pantry.

Your generosity helped many with holidays and for all who contributed toys and gift cards you made it another successful year. The pantry, through your generosity, provided 243 Thanksgiving Baskets, 169 Christmas Baskets and toys or gift cards to 243 children from 108 Windham families.

The following is not totally inclusive but we hope will cover most contributors who made this a joyous season. The Windham Food Pantry would like to thank all of the following for their generosity:

all local banks and business both large and small, area churches, fraternal and other organizations, real estate and mortgage companies, Windham primary through high school including Westbrook Vocational, Ron & Julie Eby (Windham Automotive) Town Hall staff, Girl and Boy Scouts and our local newspapers for helping us all year long.

Last, but not least, the Windham Community Garden for all its support this past growing season and the Sebago Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce for the Community Coin Challenge, which made a significant contribution to the food pantry. Sheri Huff deserves kudos for all her hard work on this very successful project, our private citizens who helped so much during the holidays and Scott’s Disposal Service for all their assistance with turkeys and gifts.

We are so grateful to all and simply could not have provided the food pantry’s clients with all the holiday baskets and gifts without the help of the community.

On a personal note, I hope 2013 brings health and happiness to all who so willingly give so others may have.
