BOWDOIN COLLEGE ROUNDUP
BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin College women’s basketball coach Adrienne Shibles won her 100th game as head coach of the Polar Bears in a 80-43 victory over Maine Maritime Academy on Tuesday evening at Morrell Gymnasium.
Midway through her fifth season at Bowdoin, Shibles claimed her 100th win in just her 134th game overall.
The Polar Bears improved to 9-8, while the Mariners fall to 7-9.
Kaitlin Donahoe had a team-high 18 points, including four 3-pointers in the victory. Sara Binkhorst pitched in 11 points as every Polar Bear entered the scoring column.
It was also a record-tying night for Bowdoin freshman Shannon Brady, who tied the school record with six blocks. The mark ties the record twice set by Justine Pouravelis and moves her to 38 blocks this season — the eighth-most in a season in school history.
Maine Maritime was led by nine points from Leah Jackson off the bench. Mary Badeen and Rebekah Campbell had eight points apiece.
Bowdoin never trailed, jumping to a 31-9 lead and connecting on eight first-half 3-pointers to take a commanding 42-20 lead at halftime. Bowdoin owned a 42-29 edge on the boards, scoring 18 second chance points on 18 offensive rebounds and netting 30 points off 18 MMA turnovers.
The Polar Bears will look to stay in the win column this weekend when they travel to play at NESCAC foe Colby on Saturday at 4 p.m.

The Polar Bears survived a furious rally by Babson and came away with a thrilling 68- 66 overtime road win on Tuesday evening.
Bowdoin (10-6) was led by Bryan Hurley, who hit four 3- pointers for 20 points, while also adding eight rebounds, seven assists and four steals. Andrew Madlinger chipped in 12 points and Keegan Pieri finished with eight points and eight boards.

After the Polar Bears built a 26-12 lead with 5:33 to go in the first half, Babson (10-9) came storming back to trail by four, 29-25, at the break.
The Polar Bears extended the lead to double figures six different times in the second stanza, including a 57-47 cushion with five minutes left in regulation, before a 12-0 run gave the Beavers their first advantage of the period, 59- 57, with 49 seconds on the clock.
Bowdoin tied the game on a jumper by Lucas Hausman with 25 seconds left, and Babson Travis Sheldon’s jumper from the right corner at the buzzer was long as the two teams went into overtime.
The Polar Bears scored the first four points of the extra session, and a conventional three-point play by Madlinger made it a five-point game, 66- 61, with 1:26 to go. The Beavers answered with a baseline jumper by Kenny Ross and a free throw by John Wickey to get to within two with 37.9 remaining, but Hurley hit back-to-back free throws to once again make it a two-possession contest, 68- 64, with 30.4 on the clock.
Ross hit a driving lay-up to trim the deficit back to two, and a missed free throw at the other end gave the Beavers a chance to tie with 17 seconds left. However, Russ Braithwaite’s contested shot from the right side of the lane went off the backboard and into the arms of Madlinger as the buzzer sounded.
