WEST BATH — Dzogchen Meditation Center will present a 10-day retreat, “The Heart of the Matter,” from Feb. 1 to 10.
The Shamatha/Vipashyana retreat costs $300, which includes room and board.
“Shamatha/Vipashayana or mindfulness and awareness practice forms the core of all meditation practices available in the Buddhist tradition. The Shamatha/ Vipashyana retreats at the Dzogchen Meditation Center follow the forms established by Trungpa Rinpoche for group practice,” according to a news release. “We will have eight hours of meditation practice each day, walking meditation and oryoki meals in the shrine room. Shamatha/ Vipashayana allows us to look directly at our minds. Until we clearly see our confusion and sanity beyond conceptualization we have no way to engage the Buddhadharma.”
