Sunday, Jan. 20: A public hymn sing takes place 4:30-5:30 p.m. at the Raymond Village Community Church, 27 Main St. (Route 121 just north of Route 302) in Raymond Village. All are welcome and encouraged to participate: no service, no sermon, no collection. Old favorites, new selections, and your requests covering all traditions and all ages, led by RVCC’s Music Director, Karen Strange. Wednesday, Jan. 23: Mercy Hospital/Standish Family Practice is holding a flu clinic 3-5 p.m. for children and adults. Free of charge. You do not need to be a patient of Mercy or Standish Family Practice. The clinic is located in the Colonial Market Place between Hannaford and the post office.

Tuesday, Feb. 5: The Schoolhouse Arts Center’s annual meeting will be held to report on the Schoolhouse activities of 2012, discuss goals for 2013, and elect a Board of Directors for the year ahead. Anyone interested in participating in the Board of Directors for 2013 should contact the Schoolhouse by Feb. 1 at schoolhousearts@fairpoint.net. Saturday, Feb. 9: Maple Syrup enthusiast? Do you tap a few trees or wish you knew how? Learn from members of the Southern Maine Maple Sugarmakers during a free maple syrup hobbyist workshop 10 a.m.-noon at Balsam Ridge Sugarhouse, 140 Egypt Road, Raymond. Feb. 9: The Cabin Fever Sale at the New Gloucester Public Library runs 8 a.m. to noon and offers great bargains on a large selection of gently used books (50 cents for hardbacks and 25 cents for paperbacks), games, puzzles and audio-visual items. In addition, yummy baked goods will be on sale. Stock up on items to help you make it through to spring thaw.

Saturday, Feb. 23: Sunshine for Sue Fundraising Flea Market, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Windham Veterans Center. Shop to support Windham resident Sue Zemla and her ongoing battle with scleroderma and pulmonary hypertension. Vendors will be selling jewelry, painted vintage furniture, antiques, toys, infant clothing, yard sale items and much more. • The National Alliance on Mental Illness welcomes any family members or friends who find themselves needing support for dealing with someone challenged with a mental illness.
