Bethanie Brown, a senior at Waterville High, has been named Gatorade Cross Country Runner of the Year for Maine.
Brown is the Class B state champion. She placed seventh in New England and 11th at the Foot Locker Northeast Regional.
She also maintains a 4.27 weighted grade point average, tops in her class. She plans to continue her running career at the University of Connecticut.
