The School Administrative District 75 Board of Directors will hear an overview of the 2013-14 budget process during its meeting tonight at Mt. Ararat Middle School.

The board will consider creating a six-hour-per-day Educational Technician I position at the middle school from Jan. 2 to the last day of school this year, appropriating an amount not to exceed $14,367.

The board will then look at creating two Educational Technician II positions, to address special needs at Woodside Elementary and Harpswell Community schools, appropriating no more than $4,700 for the positions that are not to exceed 300 hours.

The school board will also consider changing two custodian positions to Working Head Custodian II positions at Mt. Ararat High School and Mt. Ararat Middle School, with an approximate price tag of $1,115 for the current fiscal year, to be taken from the existing facilities budget.

A presentation is planned for the board by Kerry Gallivan on the 21st Century Library.

Before hearing financial report and school safety reports, the board also will consider several policies tonight.

The board will hear second readings and potentially adopt updated polices on student discipline, suspension of students, expulsion of students, disciplinary removal of students with disabilities, and public access to information.

The school board is also scheduled to acknowledge the retirement at the end of the school year of Mt. Ararat High School English teacher Claudette Brassil; Mt. Ararat High School guidance councilor Ian Mackenzie; Harpswell Community School teacher Deborah Smith and Mt. Ararat Middle School teacher Leon Smith.

The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. at the middle school.
