A University of Maine School of Law student has been named as one of the nation’s emerging environmental leaders.

Agnieszka “Aga” Pinette, a third-year law student, is a recipient of the Switzer Environmental Fellowship. The program awards $15,000 for recipients to complete their advanced degrees and develop expertise to address critical environmental challenges, according to a news release.

Pinette, of Brunswick, is among 20 recipients of the award for 2012.

A native of the nation of Poland, Pinette came to the United States as a child and attended high school in Lisbon. She is a 1999 graduate of Dartmouth College, where she earned a degree, cum laude, in environmental earth science.
