WELLS — When Jordan Agger’s family moved to Wells, it was a win-win for the basketball player and the Wells girls basketball team. Agger, a junior who transferred from Thornton Academy, is a welcome addition to a Warrior team that has big goals this season.

“I think that it’s exciting for the girls to have a new component. They were excited about the year to begin with, and you add another quality player to the mix,” said Wells head coach Don Abbott. “I think she has brought an added buzz and excitement to what was already a highly anticipated season for the girls.”

Agger chose to play soccer for the first time in her high school career this fall, hoping it would help her get to better know her future teammates. Abbott said that most of the girls on the team also play soccer, and it helped Agger hit the ground running.

“They welcomed me wicked quickly,” said Agger. “It was wicked easy coming in.”

Agger called coming to her new team “very exciting” but “very nerve-wracking at the same time,” noting how she has to integrate herself into a program for the second time in three years.

But, Agger said, she has adjusted well to her new school and new team. Abbott agreed.

“If you came and watched us practice, you wouldn’t know who the new kid is,” said Abbott.

Abbott said he is excited to add Agger to the mix, noting that she can help out in a lot of areas.

“She’s very versatile on the court. She can literally play all five positions for us,” said Abbott. “She’s got guard skills. She’s got forward strength.”

Abbott also said she has “a very high basketball IQ.”

Agger said she is excited to come to a team with a hunger to go deep into the playoffs. She noted that Wells and Thornton had similarly short playoff runs last year, so she knows for what the Warriors are playing.

Abbott said that the team is lucky to have Agger, and both parties seem pleased to have found the other.

“She’s going to help us. There’s no question about it,” said Abbott.
