PORTLAND — For the third straight year, Cheverus High School will host the Wreaths Across America convoy. Sunday’s event at 267 Ocean Ave., begins at 4:30 p.m.
The huge convoy of tractor trailer trucks and their escorts is en route with handmade Maine wreaths for placement on the graves of service members at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. The wreath-laying at Arlington is scheduled for Dec. 15.
Cheverus will host a ceremony in the Keegan Gymnasium to welcome the convoy, the Patriot Guard Riders, and the other motorcycle and motor vehicle groups and state and municipal law enforcement who help escort the convoy on its trip to Arlington.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
