Dresden Fire Association is again doing the Christmas tree fundraiser at Pownalborough Station on Route 197.
The Christmas tree fundraiser will be held on December weekends from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., until they either sell what they have or Christmas gets here first. All trees will cost $25 (the same price as last year) and range in size from 5 to 9 feet.
If you have any questions or need to make other arrangements to get a tree, call the Association President (Gorham “Pean” Lilly) at 737-2566.
The Fire Association appreciates the support that it’s been given for this fundraiser each year. The group urges people to use caution with trees. Make sure the lights are safe and the tree has plenty of water.
Dresden Fire Department members will meet every Wednesday at Pownalborough Station at 6:30 p.m. for regular truck and station maintenance as well as any scheduled training which will be posted on the first Wednesday of the month.
In other town news, a Dresden comprehensive plan workshop will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 18 at Pownalborough Hall at 6:30 p.m.
Any resident is more than welcome to attend the workshops as this plan is being developed for the entire community. Your input, questions and/or comments are always important to help guide the group to make sure this will be a plan that will be acceptable to townspeople. Residents are encouraged to come to a workshop and see what is being discussed, and to add some valuable input.
The Dresden Planning Board meets on the first Tuesday of each month, and the next meeting is Dec. 4 at Pownalborough Hall at 6:30 p.m. These meetings are always open to the public.
For any questions or need to get info on a project, call the board Chairman, Jeff Pierce, at 737-9051.
Dresden Sno-Valley Riders will meet on Tuesday, Dec. 11 at Pownalborough Hall beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Trail work has begun, memberships are coming in, club sleds are being readied for what we hope will be a significant snowfall this season. If you wish to join the club or would like information on the cost, contact Shari Lilly at 737-2566 or you can come to a meeting. The club would like to see more snowmobile owners become club members.
The members work hard to make sure our trail system is in the best possible condition for local enjoyment.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
