Fifty-four Central Maine Power customers lost power for more than three hours after a vehicle struck a utility pole Monday morning on Harding Road.
The crash was reported at 8:47 a.m. Deputy Chief Marc Hagan of the Brunswick Police Department said a 2005 Chevrolet sports utility vehicle driven by 62-year-old Linda Furbish of Harpswell, was headed south on Harding Road and just prior to Bull Rock Road, ran off the left side of the road and struck a utility pole.
Furbish, the sole occupant, was assessed at the scene but was not transported. The vehicle was towed away. Police believe driver fatigue may have been a factor in the crash. No charges were filed.
Gail Rice, a spokesperson for CMP, said power to 54 customers went off at 8:47 a.m. and came back on at 12:24 p.m.
Route 1 crash
Brunswick police responded to a second single-vehicle crash at 2 p.m. on Route 1. A 2012 Toyota sports utility vehicle was traveling north on Route 1, operated by 80- year-old Constance Bartlett of Bremen. Hagan said Bartlett dozed off and drove off the left side of the road, struck the cable barrier on the left side of the road, and then crossed to the right side of the road before coming to a stop near the Coastal Connector off ramp.
Bartlett, the sole occupant, was transported to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick where she was treated and released. No charges were filed. The vehicle sustained extensive damage.
