To the Editor:
Communities Against Substance Abuse would like to thank Brunswick police Lt. Michael Moody and Sgt. Paul Hansen for their leadership and expertise in delivering the two-day drug impairment training for educational professionals Nov. 15-16.
The event was an intensive, hands-on educational session that focused on identification of drug or alcohol impairment and recommendations for protocol within the school setting.
This event, attended by 27 local middle and high school, college, and youth center professionals, served as a collaborative opportunity for community members to engage on this important topic.
The Brunswick Police Department has been a member of CASA since the coalition was founded, often partnering with them to increase community awareness of underage drinking and drug use.
This training was a perfect opportunity for the department’s proactive involvement, and CASA appreciates the amount of time and resources they dedicated.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
