SOUTH PORTLAND – A Gray man was arrested Wednesday morning and charged with an armed robbery at On the Border restaurant near the Maine Mall early this year.

Ryan Bell, 25, was arrested at 10 a.m. after new information surfaced recently, according to a release from the South Portland Police Department. Bell has been charged with class A robbery, class B aggravated assault, and class C theft. He is being held on bail at Cumberland County Jail.

The armed robbery occurred Feb. 20 at the restaurant at 420 Maine Mall Road. Two men entered the rear of the business shortly after closing and assaulted one employee and threatened another prior to leaving the business with a small amount of cash, police said. One of the victims was injured as a result of the robbery, but he was not transported to the hospital. The case was initially investigated, but the investigation stalled due to a lack of credible leads at the time, according to police.
