TOPSHAM
Charles E. Crosby III, DTopsham, has won the District 1 seat on the Sagadahoc County Commission representing Bowdoin and Topsham, defeating Guy M. Lebida, R-Bowdoin.
Crosby served on the Topsham Finance Committee, as a Topsham selectman, and as a county commissioner from 1992 to 2004.
He also was a state representative in the 122nd Legislature.
“I am humbled and honored by the support,” he said in a news release.
Crosby said he decided to run to support the work of Coastal Counties Workforce Inc., which he said is targeted by a state takeover.
“I was one of the county commissioners who voted to form CCWI more than a decade ago and our organization … leveraged millions of dollars of money for workforce development and training (that) would be lost if the state took over the locally controlled boards,” he said.
Crosby, 54, is an inventory management system associate at the Augusta Wal-Mart and publisher of The Cryer. He has four children.
