Sanford voters on Tuesday re-elected two town councilors and added a political newcomer to the board.
Current Chairman Alan Walsh led the vote count in the eight-way race with 2,799 votes. Richard Wilkins, the other incumbent, received 2,434 votes and Fred Smith finished with 2,521 votes.

Smith fills the seat left vacant by Anne-Marie Mastraccio, who left after nine years on the council to run for House District 143.

Sanford councilors serve three-year terms.

Jonathan Mapes, a local businessman who served on the Charter Commission, was elected to the Sanford School Committee as a write-in candidate. He will serve a three-year term.
