DURHAM — Pianist Tom Whitehead will be featured Nov.10duringa7p.m.benefit concert at Durham Friends Meeting.

Whitehead is the son of Macy and Edie Whitehead, to whom this performance is dedicated. He has been playing since age 4, when he was inspired by his parents.

A news release describes his current style of piano playing is a virtual “musical gumbo” of jazz, swing, stride, New Orleans R&B, blues and boogie woogie.

In 2002, Whitehead wrote and produced “Papa Roux,” his first CD of original music. He has appeared on many other recordings, playing piano, guitar and accordion.

He has led ensembles in San Francisco and Maine and currently teaches piano and guitar at the Waynflete School in Portland and at 317 Maine Street Community Music School in Yarmouth.

Admission for “An Evening of Jazz Piano” is by donation and funds will benefit DYF Youth Group.

The church is located at 532 Quaker Meetinghouse Road.
