NEW FACES

Christopher Lockman joined Verrill Dana’s Bankruptcy & Creditors’ Rights Group. Lockman was previously employed at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, where he served as a law clerk to Judge Jeffery A. Deller.

Chris Whicker joined RE/MAX Alliance as executive director of business development. Whicker, who relocated from Hampton Roads, Va., will focus on building the RE/MAX Alliance brand.

Michelle Pelletier joined Glacial Multimedia as a product manager for MDprospects. Pelletier will help clients use MDprospects to nurture leads and track their marketing returns.

Sarah Helming Stern was hired as media director for Sabre Yachts in South Casco and Back Cove Yachts in Rockland. Stern was most recently director of programs and events at SailMaine.

Scott Tompkins was named director of business development at PC Construction. Tompkins has more than 17 years of experience in the construction industry. He serves as secretary for the Portland Society of Architects and is a member of the Maine Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council and the Maine Better Transportation Association.

Mark Thibodeau was hired at ReEnergy Holdings LLC as facility manager of the company’s biomass-to-energy facility in Stratton. Thibodeau has more than 10 years of experience in facility operations and management. Most recently, he was director of biomass operations at Covanta Energy. 

Jason Fitzgerald joined Norway Savings Bank as assistant vice president and manager of its Kennebunk branch, which is expected to open by the end of the year. Fitzgerald serves on the Kennebunk Chamber of Commerce and also is a board member of Junior Achievement of York County.

PROMOTIONS

Alicia Greer, an assistant vice president at TD Bank in Portland, was promoted to treasury management officer. Greer, of Portland, has six years of experience in banking operations and cash management sales. She joined TD Bank in 2006 and was most recently an Automated Clearing House, or ACH, supervisor in Lewiston.

AWARDS and RECOGNITIONS

Six lawyers from Verrill Dana were named as Lawyers of the Year by Best Lawyers. The attorneys recognized are: Christopher J.W. Coggeshall for his work in the field of real estate law; Gregory S. Fryer, in two categories – his work in the field of mergers and acquisitions law and his work in securities regulation; Mark K. Googins for banking and finance law; William C. Knowles for litigation – trusts and estates; Suzanne E. Meeker for employee benefits; and Michael V. Saxl for his government relations practice.

Matthew Jude Barker, a Portland writer, genealogist and historian, was recently awarded a 40 Under 40 Award from the Irish Echo newspaper in New York City. He was one of four to receive a Young Ambassador Crystal for his 30 years of work in Irish history and genealogy, as well as local and Maine history. Barker is a resident genealogist and historian at the Maine Irish Heritage Center in Portland.

• Baker Newman Noyes was named one of the nation’s top 200 accounting firms by Inside Public Accounting for 2012.

Kyle Whittington earned top honors for lia sophia jewelry’s excellent beginnings program for his outstanding sales accomplishments and professionalism. Whittington earned the accomplishment in the first 15 weeks by attaining certain sales levels and by sharing lia sophia with other new advisers. 

• Eric Uhl, a partner in the New England office of Fisher & Phillips LLP, was named Litigation Labor & Employment Lawyer of the Year in Portland for 2013 by Best Lawyers. Only one lawyer in each specialty in each market is honored as lawyer of the year.

Colleen Barrows was named Employee of the Year at Bonney Staffing Center. Barrows of Portland was recognized for her outstanding achievements while working as a temporary employee for Bonney Staffing Center’s Portland office.

The Scarborough Economic Development Corporation’s board of directors announced the recipients of this year’s Outstanding Scarborough Business awards. They are: James A. McBrady Inc., Outstanding Legacy Business; Mainely Wraps, Outstanding New Business; Katahdin Analytical Services, Outstanding Technology Business; Nonesuch Oysters, Outstanding Micro Business; Scarborough Community Chamber, Outstanding Contribution to Community; and Partners for World Health, Outstanding Nonprofit Award.

BOARD APPOINTMENTS

Girls on the Run-Maine, a nonprofit organization that uses the power of running to inspire pre-teen girls to be joyful, healthy and confident, has announced its board of directors. Megan Staton Tumavicus, M.D., a family physician at InterMed, was named chair. Sarah Russell, e-media content manager at Diversified Communications, was named vice chair. Rob Fast, executive vice president at Surepoint Advisors, was named secretary. Allison McBrierty, corporate controller at Synernet-MaineHealth, was named treasurer.

Other people named to the board are John Rogers, owner and president of Maine Running Company; Sean Sinclair, chief operating officer at Baker, Newman, Noyes; Hildy Ginsberg, executive director at the Portland Branch of Cumberland County YMCA; Coreen Lauren, LTD manager at Custom Disability Solutions, and partner of SheJAMS; and Jill Dube Hart, an independent public relations and social media strategist.

The Central Maine Medical Center board of trustees recently elected four new members. Named to the board were Sharon Buckley of Auburn, chief financial officer, Patrons Oxford Insurance Company; Candace Sanborn of Auburn, managing partner, Encompass Marketing; Rebecca Webber, an attorney with Linnell Choate and Webber; and Deborah Haire of Auburn, president of the Central Maine Medical Center Woman’s Hospital Association.

Rebecca Harris, a senior account manager at Clark Insurance, was elected to the board of directors of the Biddeford-Saco Chamber of Commerce. Harris of Gorham chairs the chamber’s Ambassador Committee and also is active with Parents in Education for Gorham.

GENERAL

Gilchrist Scott changed its name to Tidestone Solutions. The change is part of a rebranding effort to highlight its dedication to the growth and success of its clients. Tidestone Solutions in Portland specializes in accounting software solutions, including Microsoft Dynamics GP, and Intacct. 

United Way of York County recently named six people to its loaned executive team. The group will help coordinate more than 120 workplace campaigns throughout York County: Jill Archambault of Biddeford Savings; Chris Cluff of Kennebunk Savings; Brenda Gross of Unum; Joanne Livingston of Goodall Hospital; Sarah Marcotte of Hannaford Bros; and Kate Davis, sponsored by Southern Maine Medical Center, Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution and Sanford Institution for Savings. 

St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center’s main laboratory received accreditation from the College of American Pathologists. The lab is one of 7,000 CAP-accredited facilities worldwide.
