WESTBROOK – Collin Joyce rushed for 146 yards and two touchdowns and had a 65-yard interception return for a touchdown as second-seeded Westbrook cruised to a 34-7 win over No. 7 Fryeburg Academy in a Western Class B football quarterfinal Saturday afternoon.

The Blue Blazes (7-2) dominated the seventh-seeded Raiders, who finished the season with four wins and five losses.

Cale Bollig added a pair of rushing touchdowns for Westbrook, and Kyle Heath finished with 78 yards on five carries as the Blue Blazes racked up 325 yards on the ground.

Joyce opened the scoring on a 14-yard run in the first quarter. The Blazes made it 20-0 at halftime on a 35-yard run by Joyce and a 3-yard run by Bollig.

Bollig added a 1-yard TD run in the third quarter, and Joyce’s interception return in the fourth quarter made it 34-0.

Fryeburg got its touchdown on a 35-yard pass from Ben Southwick to Bright Amoako.

The Blue Blazes will host a semifinal next Saturday against No. 3 York.

 

TRAIP ACADEMY 28, MARANACOOK 0: Devon Draker opened the scoring on a 2-yard run in the second quarter and led a strong defensive effort by the fourth-seeded Rangers (8-1) against the fifth-seeded Black Bears (5-4) in a Western Class C quarterfinal at Kittery.

Traip extended its lead to 14-0 at halftime on a 7-yard touchdown run by Corey Aldecoa, who also scored the final touchdown on a 15-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Atencio Martin caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from Chris Czachor in the third quarter.

Christian Montembeau made all four extra points for the Rangers, who will face No. 1 Winslow in the regional semifinals next Saturday.

BOYS’ SOCCER

YARMOUTH 2, YORK 0: David Murphy scored on a free kick from 20 yards midway through the first half to spark the top-seeded Clippers (12-1-3) past the fourth-seeded Wildcats (9-5-2) in a Western Class B semifinal at Yarmouth.

Adam LaBrie tacked on an insurance goal with a 20-yard blast with just over six minutes remaining.

Yarmouth is scheduled to host No. 3 Falmouth in the regional final Wednesday.
