BRUNSWICK — The Unitarian Universalist Church of Brunswick will be conducting an online auction until Nov. 2 to raise money to help rebuild the church. On Nov. 3, the church will follow up with a live auction from 5:30 to 10 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 2 Columbus Drive.
On June 6, 2011, an electrical fire damaged the historic church beyond repair. The congregation voted to tear down the old church and rebuild a larger, greener church in the same location.
The new building will not only serve the worship needs of the congregation, but the hope is it will become the epicenter for many community groups, activities and cultural events.
The more than 200 online auction items can be viewed at biddingforgood.com/uucb. Donations of cash and auctions items may be made online as well.
“Whether you have one item or 100 to contribute, your participation is an invaluable part of our fundraising efforts,” states a release from the church. “By donating an item or service directly online, you’ll help us rebuild our church, and you’ll receive a mention on our site that can link back to your own web page.”
In addition to the auctions, a doll house is being raffled. The handmade house measures 40 inches high, 24 inches deep and 30.5 inches wide. The winners will be drawn during the at live auction on Nov. 3.
Raffle tickets are $5 each or six for $25. Contact Gretchen at 833-5125 for details.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
