To the Editor:
I recently received a sewer bill in the amount of $75.14 from the Brunswick Sewer District. I was quite surprised because the bill for the previous period was $39.78.
I inquired about it and the clerk told me it is based on the amount of water that is used. I had watered my lawn during the summer months and this had nothing to do with sewage.
I wonder how many people are paying the higher amount without inquiring about it. This is not the proper way to do things. A fairer way would be to average out the amount of water used for the previous six months and charge that amount.
I was also told to notify the Sewer District when I planned to water the lawn. I wonder how many people don’t know of this or forget to notify them and pay the larger amount.
