WINDHAM — Cape Elizabeth shooters made six consecutive penalty kicks as the No. 4 Capers eliminated top-seeded Windham with a 2-1 win in the second round of penalty kicks Friday night in a Western Class A girls soccer semifinal.
The score was tied 1-1 at the end of 80 minutes of regulation play and 30 minutes of overtime.
The Eagles’ Jenna Soucy opened the scoring by putting a blast from 25 yards blast 9:45 into game. Freshman Kate Breed tied it by scoring her third goal of the season 13 minutes into the second half.
The Capers (15-1-1) advance to play the winner of the Scarborough-Thornton Academy game for the regional championship. Windham finished the season a 14-1-1.
