BANGOR (AP) — A former high-ranking official with the Hermon School Department has been sentenced to six months in jail after pleading guilty to stealing more than $28,000 from the department.

Larry Dearborn, the former director of maintenance, facilities and transportation, waived indictment and pleaded guilty Thursday at the Penobscot Judicial Center to Class C theft.

The 44-year-old Dearborn was also ordered to complete restitution payments. Most of the money has already been repaid.
