WESTBROOK – Central Maine Power Company is getting ready for Hurricane Sandy, which is forecast to move up the East Coast and make landfall in New Jersey early next week.

Utility trucks are fueled and equipped and key CMP personnel are holding periodic pre-storm planning sessions to discuss staffing levels and finalize storm-response plans, according to John Carroll, CMP spokesman.

“We’ve put our storm response plan into motion, and we’re watching the forecast closely,” Carroll said. “Our main concern will be the high winds and heavy rains.”

The utility is coordinating its storm preparation efforts with the Maine Emergency Management Agency and the governor’s office, which has issued a limited emergency declaration to help Maine utilities prepare for the storm.

If power outages occur, CMP customers should call 1-800-696-1000.
