Freeport High School class fundraisers
Students at Freeport High School are selling items to the public to raise money for their individual classes. Items are available at the polls on Election Day or students can be contacted individually through Nov. 7, with the exception of the class of 2013, whose members are selling a variety of citrus fruit from Golden Harvest in Florida until Nov. 26.
The class of 2014 is selling wreaths from Down on the Farm in Danforth, the class of 2015 is selling poinsettias from Longfellow Greenhouses in Manchester and the class of 2016 is selling pies from Judy’s Kitchen in Durham.

Freeport Lioness ?open house
The Freeport Lioness-Lions Club is hosting an open house on Thursday. Oct. 25, from 7-8:30 p.m., at Oak Leaf Terrace, 24 South St., Freeport. The Lioness Club invites women who are interested in a civic organization that gives “help where help is needed-in our own surrounding communities and around the world-with unmatched integrity and energy.”

Spooky 5K road race
The third annual Spooky 5K road race will take place on Sunday, Oct. 28 near Wilbur’s Chocolate Factory at 174 Lower Main St. in Freeport. Proceeds from the race benefit the Carol Kaplin Fuel Fund. The race begins at 9 a.m. with registration and volunteer check-in beginning at 7:45 a.m. There is a free 100-yard fun dash for kids. Registration is $20 and the first 150 people to register receive a T-shirt.

Great Osprey 10K?set for Nov. 3
The 31st annual Great Osprey 10K Ocean Run will take place Saturday, Nov. 3, at Wolfe’s Neck Woods State Park in Freeport.
The race begins at 10 a.m., with race-day registration 8:30-9:30 a.m. Entry fees are $20 (no shirt) or $25 (includes shirt), with an additional $5 for race-day registration.
Prizes are awarded to the top finishers in various age categories. All race proceeds benefit the RCE Program Scholarship Fund. The race will be held rain or shine. If race is cancelled due to extreme weather conditions, refunds will not be issued. Parking is limited so arrive early.

Thrift Shop estate sale
The Freeport Community Thrift Shop, 53 Depot St. will be hosting its quarterly estate sale on Oct. 26 and 27 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. The thrift shop is looking for donations of items for this event including furniture, clothing, footwear, jewelry, books, artwork and toys.

Library news and notes
The Freeport Community Library will be hosting an Open Stage Coffee House in the Community Meeting Room on Saturday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m. The coffee house is a relaxed performance opportunity for budding artists or established entertainers of all ages. Anyone interested in performing music, comedy, poetry or skits can show up and sign up. Each performer gets 10 to 15 minutes. Admission is free for performers and audience members. Maine mystery writer Paul Doiron will speak and read at the library on Monday, Oct. 29, at 7 p.m. The award-winning author of novels including “The Poacher’s Son and Trespasser” will be reading from his latest book, “Bad Little Falls” in the Community Meeting Room. Light refreshments will be served.
The U.S. Air Force Colonial Brass will be giving a free concert on Saturday, Nov. 17, at 1 p.m. The ensemble of six professional musicians from the U.S. Air Force Band of Liberty will be playing a variety of music from classics to pop and Broadway to swing in the Community Meeting Room. Seating will be limited. Audiences are advised to arrive early.
