NEW FACES
• Hayden Anderson, Ph.D. was named executive director of the Maine Humanities Council. Anderson was interim executive director of the Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project in Portland for the past year. Since 2009, he served as development director for the nonprofit legal aid organization.
Anderson replaces Erik C. Jorgensen, who had been the executive director since 2007. Jorgensen left the council to seek election to the Maine House of Representatives in District 115, representing Portland.
• Raymond Ruby was hired as unit director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maine’s South Portland clubhouse. For the past three years, Ruby served as a youth services officer for the Portland Police Department.
• Abby Swardlick joined the admissions team at Thornton Academy in Saco. Swardlick was previously with CIEE and has worked in the field of international education for more than eight years.
• Brenda Kielty was hired to serve as Maine’s first public access ombudsman. Kielty was previously a special assistant to the attorney general.
• Doug Stebbins joined Thornton Academy as an events manager for the Harry P. Garland Auditorium at the academy. Stebbins of Cape Elizabeth was previously with LifeTouch Yearbook Division of Minneapolis, Minn.
• Joe Mango joined Dr. Newton’s Naturals as a catalog specialist for the marketing department. Mango has more than 22 years of direct marketing experience, including catalog and Internet product design, as well as development of consumer products. His most recent role was at Penntext.com.
PROMOTIONS
• Chad Snow was promoted to senior manager of BerryDunn’s Government Consulting Group. Snow has extensive experience assisting government clients with project management, technology planning, business process improvement, system implementation and design, and enterprise resource planning systems. He is a project management professional, a designation of the Project Management Institute.
• Jen Pierce was promoted to unit director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maine’s Portland Clubhouse. Pierce has more than 17 years of experience with Boys & Girls Clubs. For the past two years, she has served as unit director of the South Portland Clubhouse.
BOARD APPOINTMENTS
• Steve Bachelder was elected president of the North Yarmouth Academy board of trustees. Bachelder, of Yarmouth, is a partner in the Portland law firm of Bachelder & Dowling P.A.
Elected to the board were: Carrie Lonsdale of Falmouth; Alison Prawer of Cumberland Foreside; and David Williams of North Yarmouth.
• Lorrie Marquis Potvin and Cynthia Rice joined the board of directors for Tri-County Mental Health Services.
Potvin is director of cardiology service line and strategic planning at St. Mary’s Health System. She is a Lewiston native with experience as a medical assistant and in patient relations, marketing and strategic planning.
Rice is director of community health, wellness and cardiac rehab with Central Maine Medical Center.
Both women are 2012 graduates of the Hanley Healthcare Leadership Program.
GENERAL
• Sacopee Valley Health Center in Porter has earned Level 3 national recognition from the National Committee for Quality Assurance in Washington. Level 3 is the highest level recognition. SVHC was recognized for promoting partnerships between individual patients and their personal providers.
